Formal Launch of Richard R. Darlington (Gacmadhere) Foundation for Somaliland in LondonTuesday 12th July 2011

The Darlington (Gacmadheere) Foundation has been set up in memory of Richard R Darlington who worked as a teacher and headmaster in Sheikh
and Amoud Secondary Schools from 1950s to 1971. Richard R Darlington had a great respect and admiration for the people of Somaliland. Richard Darlington came to Somaliland after the 2nd World War with the Somaliland troops . From 1950s to 1971 he served as a teacher and headmaster at Sheikh and Amoud, turning them into some of the finest secondary schools in the region. He left Somaliland just two years after Siad Barre’s coup d’état in October 1969.TheFoundation is a registered charity and its strategic objectives are:


and developing education in Somaliland.

The Darlington (Gacmadheere) Foundation will be launched on Tuesday 12th
July between 6:00pm and 10:00pm at
Ealing Town Hall, New Broadway, Ealing, London W5 2BY. The Venue is just 5
minutes walk from Tube Station Ealing Broadway (Central & District Lines);
Bus: 65; 83; 112; 207; 297; and 607.

Thetrustees of the Foundation are inviting members of the Somaliland Community and
British Friends to attend this important event. The event will also be a great
historic reunion for the graduates of Sheikh and Amoud Secondary Schools
who are dispersed all over the world.

noble initiative.
